About Us

Smokewagon & Co. Founders, Brian & Allison Thomson

SMOKEWAGON & CO. is pioneering the lost art of cowboy coffee and elevated chuckwagon cuisine. We are a family business dedicated to providing an authentic chuckwagon experience while preserving the history of the Old West. We provide cowboy coffee and catering services for events large and small, and our authentic 1854 John Deere chuckwagon is available to rent for all occasions—from weddings and events to movie sets and historic reenactments.

Founders, Brian and Allison Thomson, were born and raised in beautiful Sonoma County, California. They have long shared a desire to return to simpler times when values centered around faith and family were at the heart of daily living. Their business was birthed out of this pursuit for a more meaningful life focused on family togetherness, being renewed by God’s creation, and the simple pleasures of life like tending a garden and sharing heartfelt conversation over home-cooked meals.

The Thomson family’s history has deep roots in Sonoma County. With the past three generations having grown up on the family farm in Santa Rosa—lovingly dubbed Prune Hollow Farm, and one of the largest producers of dried fruit to Del Monte in the 1900s—they carry a rich legacy of family farming and ranch life. We recently discovered a 1979 marketing campaign called the Del Monte Round-Up—a set of Western advertising posters by artist, Guy Deel, featuring cowboy life and the chuckwagon experience. What a rich discovery to find this intersection of our family’s history from its farming past to its chuckwagon ventures of today!

The Smokewagon Posse

Of course, no chuckwagon is complete without its Cookie, and Brian’s father, Bill Thomson, has always been known for loving people well with his mouthwatering food. Serving as the Head Chuckwagon Chef for Smokewagon & Co., Bill’s legendary cooking and love of Western culture were a large source of inspiration for the chuckwagon business.
